Simulation and Control of Electric Shipboard Power Systems using Modelica and MATLAB/Simulink

Abstract: This paper investigates the advantages of the objectoriented language Modelica for modeling the Naval electric shipboard power DC distribution testbed and its controls. Modelica’s hybrid system modeling capabilities allow efficient formlation of continuous and discrete information processing systems and these have been utilized to cope with multi-level control and automation of the system. Further, the capability of interfacing Modelica models and Matlab/Simulink has been explored to simulate a networked control scheme and results are presented.
